Hearing about Whitney's untimely death was like losing a member of my family. Whitney has been my inspiration since I was a little girl. We need to remember her for who she was and not judge her by her flaws. May God continue to be with her family during this difficult time. I feel bad for this guy. As a divorce lawyer in Salt Lake City it has always seemed that child support is really child alimony because the more you make the more you pay. I think there should be some kind of calculation for when it is an issue of paternity and not marriage.

The main determining factor of the style is what 'comfort' surface has been attached to it. There are five finishes; Tight Top, Pillow Top, Euro Pillow Top, Euro Top and Box Top. The Tight Top is a plain bed mattress. A Pillow Top is an added layer of comfort material that's been attached and has gusseted corners, making it look as though a large flat pillow has been placed on top. A Euro Pillow Top is one with more comfort materials. A Euro Top has the same amount of comfort material but has been attached directly - it looks like a thin mattress has been placed on top of the bed mattress. Finally, The Box top is the same as the Euro Top but is has even more comfort materials.

To whom it may concern:
I am an African American male single father of 4 children. I have had custody of my oldest daughter since she was two years old and now with her 2 year old son. I read an article in The Voice, Nov 3-9 “Child Support Enforcement Should Be reformed” by Arthur Almore Education Chair, Chesterfield, and NAACP, and I was inspired to write this letter. It was a article about a college student in jail because he owes child support. And someone spoke up for Child Support Reform.
I owe $70,000 in child support; I’ve worked as a waiter making $2.13 + tips. I’ve been in restaurant business for 27 years but I’ve held other jobs too, sometimes two and three. I am not attempting to DUCK, DODGE, or HIDE, in an attempt to not pay my child support. They are my children and I have no problem paying my support but my support is too high for the amount of money I make or lack thereof. It breaks down to: 1 daughter $. 52,000, 1 son $.15, 000, the other amounts are for another son $.3, 000 and older cases.
I have had my daughter since she was 2. I have court documents to prove it, her mother has never paid me any child support and I don’t complain. She and I had been living with girlfriends here and there and from house to house, and if the relationship didn’t work out, we had to leave. I was incarcerated in February of 2007 for nonpayment of child support. At that time, I had just signed a lease on a townhouse for my daughter and myself when I had finally the opportunity to have my own home; it was all taken away from my daughter and me.
The reason I am writing is to inform you that during that year of my incarceration, my daughter’s first cousin and her started a relationship; and a son was produced from that relationship. My daughter was 13 when the relationship happened in which he gave her two curable STD’s. She was 15 year old when her son was born. At the time she was in a group home, I give praise to them because without them by her side she would have been in deeper trouble. The grandmother where she was staying with, was verbal abusing and using my daughter for her government assistance she received. There were times when my daughter would call me after she had ran away, I would go pick her up; I would take her to get food and clothes, at times it was freezing cold outside and she would only have a thin jacket on. Even though we had visitation in place, her grandmother would refuse my visits, sometimes leaving before I came to pick her up or simply not answering the door. Even after my daughters mother, grandmother and even the mother of the cousin, who caught them have sex. No one informed the proper authorities. My daughter and her cousin were having relationship in her mother’s house and her mother knew about the relationship, but she will not come clean and be truthful.
While incarcerated I was placed on work release, in this program you have to have money in your account before you start. You have to pay $280 a month to stay on work release program; it does not go toward your child support. I was shipped to Riverside Regional Jail where I had to pay $320 a month. None of the money goes to paying child support but only to pay to stay in jail.
In court, I was receiving Tanf and food stamps I could not be prosecuted the first time. Judge Brice instructed me to be off Tanf and have a job. By the time went back to court I had job, but I still was locked up for a year, I had not gotten paid by the time I went back to court so I had no money to give. I was order to serve a year in jail. I lost my house, my job and the ability to pay support for my other children and see my other children. My girlfriend at the time cared for my daughter until my daughters mother family got involve then all hell broke loose as you can read.
The only thing the gentleman from child support could say to me was “It’s about the child” when I told him I had to get a place for my daughter and me
I say “which child , do I pay my support and let my daughter I have custody of suffer”???
During my year, I wrote the judge 5 times pleading for my freedom, I lost my mother and grandmother; I was able to go to funerals.
I had no lawyer, I was not very aware about the child support systems traps, rules, and railroading tactics. “I was told to pay it and don’t look back because it is not going anywhere”. I always paid my support whether it was $.1.00 or $ 300. I have never tried to take jobs under the table, or change social security numbers. The Division of Child Support refuses to acknowledge my daughter that I had custody of for so many years. The amount I owe is wrong.
Ok, if this happens again, what am I to do??? I have daughter and grandson also, now???
Do I deserve help???
I am featured in “the gotcha” newspaper for nonpayment of child support, after months of unsuccessful job hunting, I finally got a job so I could pay my support but the gentleman that gave me the job stated, I could not start the job because I am wanted and he had to protect the establishment.
Why am I labeled a Dead Beat Dad, because I cannot afford my child support?
I am now, am serving another 12 months for child support, My daughters mother had me imprisoned for not signing so my daughter could get a passport , her family were going on a cruise. I only asked her to close my child support cases so “I can pay you want I already owe you” is my statement to her. I now pay $90 a week plus I am self transported to and from jail, I am spending 60-80 a week in gas. I pay my support but not the total amount. And still none of the monies we as fathers on work release goes to child support.
